Commission Process

Choose a Photo

The first step is to choose the right photograph. This step is the most important. Make sure the picture is detailed and in focus. I can only draw what I see, so the better the photograph the better the detail I can provide and the better I can catch that perfect expression.

If you are not sure about the photograph you may email it to me at portraitsbydonscott@gmail.com along with a short message describing your project. If you don’t have a photograph to send me yet but want to discuss a project idea, you may contact me via the email above or from the Contact page.

Also, take a look at the "Photography- Tips for Selecting the Best Photo for Your Portrait" page for suggestions on picking the right photo.

Finally, I work on an 8 to 12 week timetable, please let me know in advance if you need the drawing by a specific date.

Contact Me

Use the Contact form to let me know about your portrait, send me the photo (if you have not already done so), what size you would like, and any other information I will need to know. I will be in touch within 24 hours with your quote and we can discuss it further if necessary.

Make it Official

After we have discussed the portrait and I have seen your photos, you are ready to finalize your order! First, you will need to complete the Release Form. At this time, I will send you a copy of the work order describing the project and showing cost. Finally, I will ask you to send a 50% deposit and I will start drawing.

When I have finished, I'll send you a rough scan for you to approve. If you are satisfied, I will send you a final invoice with a link to make a payment. Once I have received that, I will priority mail your portrait.
